Sun 18th June: A surprisingly rain-free afternoon

Angus and the resident dog have been busy playing since last Sunday
By some miracle, the rain stayed away for most of the afternoon at Whiskers N Paws and (another miracle) three puppies were adopted with another going for a trial with the cat, and Sandy being taken for fostering.  Angus and Tiffany had already been in their respective homes as foster puppies, while fuzzy-faced Maggie and her sister Lily were new girls.
Lily and the cat need to make friends
Fuzzy-faced Maggie was quickly chosen

Tiffany's foster parents couldn't give her up

There was another new boy who was surrendered from the same home as Maggie and Lily, although at five months he is obviously not from the same litter.  Benji is a gorgeous fluffy boy and still quite small for his age, so if you can foster or are interested in adoption please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.
Funny cute Benji

Bella raised a lot of money for HKDR at her birthday party
There were also two very kind donations, one of behalf of pom Bella for her birthday and the other a big bag of puppy food from young supporter Mischa.
Thank you Mischa!

Bella's party took place at Whiskers N Paws, so thank you to both for your kindness.

There was one very sad and shocking story to mar the success of the afternoon, and that was before I arrived.  Someone who had adopted two puppies earlier this year but had already returned one (puppy Two, subsequently re-adopted and very happy in a lovely home) turned up at Whiskers N Paws, totally unannounced and with no prior warning, to hand back the now five month-old puppy who was no longer wanted as they were leaving Hong Kong. This woman was with her daughter, the one for whom the puppy had been chosen, and helper, with the assumption that it was perfectly acceptable and normal behaviour.  As if that wasn't bad enough, we suspect that an older puppy found wandering close to AFCD Pokfulam late in the afternoon is this same one, and I'm just waiting to hear if the microchip matches.
