Sat 17th June: The show must go on

Bonzo has his own forever family now
Despite the continuing rain it was work as usual, and I had a special mission too.  Stanley Barracks pup Bonzo had an appointment with his adopters at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre in the morning, and as he's been lucky enough to have been staying with my neighbours on Lamma for the past month or so, it was up to me to get him over. Of course his charm and easygoing nature made everything easy, and he's now formally adopted.  His brother, or cousin, Rufus has taken his place with my neighbours and he has already settled in well, proving himself to be another typical comfort-loving Stanley Barracks boy.
Fuzzy-faced Rufus is the last remaining Stanley Barracks pup of this generation
Potato and Pomelo are ready-made playmates

There were two very lucky Tai Po doglets too, and adoption meant even more for them as they were moving from the constantly wet environment of the Homing Centre to a cosy and dry home.  Not only that but they will have each other to play with, and anyone who has adopted two dogs or puppies together will know that means hours of endless fun.

In fact seeing the time spent rolling around, wrestling and chasing each other, is a good indication of what single puppies miss when they are adopted on their own, and explains why singletons are so much work.  Which human has the time and energy to play non-stop for hours?

This young Bernese girl needs a home

Rain was the reason why we couldn't take in a young female Bernese Mountain Dog that was found as a stray and without any microchip, because we just don't have any dry space to put a very large dog.  If anyone can offer a home to this girl please let us know by completing the adoption questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com.

The fact that it was pouring for most of the day didn't mean my dogs missed their daily walk, and it won't mean that the Whiskers N Paws puppy afternoon will be cancelled either.  I have too many lovely puppies that need homes, and we can squeeze inside if necessary.  So please come along to meet all of the young hopefuls, or take a look at the photos that will be posted on Monday.  Just like Bonzo, we can arrange meetings any day of the week if Sundays are not possible, but obviously that only applies to individuals not all of the puppies.
