Before I talk about adoptions I want to mention that we have a vacancy at our HKDR@Elgin space to take over the running of the store plus dog care and adoptions. This is a job for someone who can work independently but also as part of a team, which might sound contradictory but there are different aspects to the work. Obviously anyone interested would have to be a dog lover and be prepared to do all of the practical (dirty) work that comes with having a group of dogs living in one space, but also be able to organise the volunteers that help out, and run the store. If that sounds like something you'd like to do, please email me at sallyandersen@hongkongdogrescue.com sending your CV.
Sybil has her own home now |
As an example of the adoption side of the Elgin Street work, there were two dogs that left today to start their new lives. One of them was Sybil, and she leaves behind her lookalike brother Scooter, only a year old. I know these dogs would have been adopted a long time ago if it wasn't for the seemingly endless holidays which saw potential adopters delaying taking dogs home, in fact Sybil had a family very keen to adopt her next week when they returned from their break. For us, however, we can't hold dogs at our centres even if they have been chosen, so if another good home is offered in the meantime then we have to let the dogs go.
Scooter is also lovely |
Tizzy is going to be a princess |
The other lucky dog today was Tizzy, the new girl I mentioned yesterday. I didn't even have time to post a photo before the perfect home was offered, so her photo is also her adoption picture.
I can't believe the weekend is almost here again, but hopefully that means more adoptions coming up. We have so many puppies still waiting for their families to come and choose them, either at Kennedy Town (Brilliant Court and North Street), or in foster homes. If you complete the adoption questionnaire we can suggest those puppies that would be most suitable, and help you to make that very important choice. We've had some problems with the website, and subsequently the foster and adoption forms, but the issue seems to have been resolved now. The adoption form is at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ and it applies to all sizes and ages of dogs.
