Sat 1st Oct: Game of Bones plus breeder dogs

It was "Game of Bones" Gala night of course, but there was a lot of activity during the day at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre too.

Four breeder dogs arrived, a poodle, shiba inu and a beagle, all of whom I was told were young, and an old and blind shih tzu.  The shiba may only be two years or even less, but he has deformed back legs which mean he can't stand up properly and this is obviously why he was thrown out.  Maybe and hopefully surgery will help but we'll have to wait and see. The other two younger dogs seem to be healthy but they also need to be checked by a vet and the poodle already has a home based on the results.

It was also finally time for chihuahua Beanie to find his home, and why it didn't happen before is a complete mystery as he is such a charming and happy little guy.  Maybe he was just waiting for this particular home, but it was certainly his time as there were at least two other homes offered today. It's so funny how it works like that.

More dogs have been promised homes, the basenji Perry being one of them and the yet-to-arrive basset hound who will hopefully even bypass our Homing Centre and go straight to its home.

There will be lots of photos going up on our Facebook page of the evening's Game of Bones gala event, and thanks to all of you who came, or supported in any way.  The amount raised will also be published as soon as everything has been counted but I think we did quite well. The only fail of the evening was the fact that for the first time I was unable to get home (although not too late all of the sampans had already closed up and left), but I've since been given numbers for some late night boat services.  Booking into a hotel for a few hours until I could get home isn't my idea of fun.
