Artie and April |
We weren't able to send Zippo the bulldog for his MRI because by the time we had a volunteer driver lined up the Imaging Centre was fully booked so now he is scheduled to go on Tuesday.
Bella suffered horrible abuse at a breeder |
We had quite a few visitors to the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre but still no takers, and I wonder what expectations are when potential adopters come looking. I know we get a lot of requests for small breed puppies, which we rarely have, but the whole point of a rescue organisation is exactly that: these dogs have been rescued one way or another. Giving them a second, or third, fourth and even fifth chance of a real life is what we do and what we hope they will get. Many of our dogs are ex-breeder victims and have never known what a home is.
At least the mixed breeds, mongrels or whatever name they are given never experience the horrors of being used to make money, but they face the prejudice of not having a designer label attached. Either way the dogs lose.
We'll be getting new puppies in for the coming Sunday at Whiskers N Paws, but those we already have the some of the most sweet and beautiful in our history of thousands. Artie and his sister April are now at the perfect age for adoption and will be waiting along with the other hopefuls, and as an added attraction the Peak to Fong T-shirts/tickets will also be available. A lot of people have already been asking when and where they can get their hands on these before they sell out, so here's your answer!
