Sun 7th Aug: Chance is a Canadian now

Chance at Vancouver airport with Linda and his new family
First things first, our lovely three-legged boy Chance has arrived safely in Vancouver and looked for all the world as though he had been in the travel crate for a matter of minutes rather than many hours.  I am very grateful that our ex-HKDR General Manager was the volunteer accompanying Chance on the flight because there were a couple of hiccups at Customs, but Linda is both an experienced traveller and used to sorting out problems.  So Chance's story has finally reached it's conclusion and I am more than happy.

We also had a busy afternoon at Whiskers N Paws, with brothers Tim and Wiggle being formally adopted as was little Loretta, while sharpei-cross girl Jenna was taken for a trial to see that she and resident dog Bambi could get along.  Take a look at all the photos by Semirah Darwin at

Wiggle was chosen by this family

Tim's family love him to bits

Golden retriever Lena also had her paperwork completed at Whiskers N Paws although she wasn't there for the signing ceremony or to have an adoption photo taken, but that's a minor point.
Only Jonas is still waiting for his family to come along

It was non-stop at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre for Iris as a lot of potential adopters came to meet the breeder schnauzers, and at the end of the day there were three remaining but with many more enquiries still coming in.  I finally managed to find out that the reason these (lucky) dogs had been able to escape a miserable life of producing litters was that the breeder had died, and there were apparently many other dogs of various breeds also left behind.  I'm asking about them and whether they are still there and in need of help of course.
