This 10 month shiba is a boy |
Every day I wonder when the next message about dogs and puppies needing help is going to arrive, and today was the day. First of all it was AFCD asking if we could take some puppies, including a ten month-old white shiba inu, and that was followed by news that some more puppies and small/medium adults would be coming, with both sets arriving on Thursday.
This puppy reminds me of now-adopted Ali |
If you can foster then please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, or complete the form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/, and for adoption the questionnaire is at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.
Look at the stripe down the back |
This gorgeous little dog is supposed to be arriving on Thursday |
We already have smaller dogs that are waiting for homes, but I know for some reason the words "new arrivals" creates interest. There will be additional dogs coming in the next few days including, I'm told, another labradoodle and some very lovely long-haired terrier types. Keep checking in if you're interested in these sorts of dogs.
Even the cutest babies have sharp teeth |
If you're thinking about adopting a puppy I need to remind everyone that regardless of breed or cuteness factor, all puppies bite! Even though we stress this reality to every single puppy adopter, almost inevitably our HKDR trainer, Cactus, receives requests for help in dealing with this behaviour. It's not aggression, it's a natural part of a puppy's learning process and yes, the teeth are very sharp and it hurts. If you can't deal with this stage of a dog's life then please skip to the slightly older puppy option. The baby teeth change to the less-sharp adult set at five to six months, and by then the puppy will also be toilet trained and ready to be fully part of any new family.
