Mon 10th July: Twelve new lives

I'm not sure where to begin today's post, but as there are so many photos of the newcomers to share I think I'll just get right down to it.

There were some really super-cute puppies to add to our stock of other really super-cute puppies, so there's definitely no shortage if you're looking for a puppy of any size, colour or coat-type.
These are all small-sized puppies

Tyler is not one of the Havanese

I mentioned yesterday that I was sure the family of long-haired dogs were some kind of breed, and thanks to one of my readers I now know they are Havanese.  Quite how this family ended up in the situation they came from is a mystery, but I was told they had been abandoned in some location with only occasional visits from someone who had been paid to feed them. As a result their coats are matted and dirty (they will sadly need to be shaved) and they were really quite scared on arrival, although already starting to calm down by the evening.  They're all adults, not old but not particularly young, and we're hoping that we can get them into experienced foster homes so they can recovered mentally and physically.
There's nothing that can be done except shaving

There were other terriers types not belonging to the Havanese family, like Tyler, Trisha and Tabby, and these are all young dogs around a year old.

Tabby

Tabby is very small and cute, but she has a problem with one of her back legs that we'll have to get seen to.  In the meantime we'd like her to go to a foster home too, and for all foster enquiries please start by completing the form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/ or if you are already a registered foster home please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.

Resident dog Astrid says Ben can stay.

I'll end with a lovely photo of puppy Ben, now Neo, in his now-confirmed home (he needed the other dog to approve his adoption).

Please remember that we have hundreds of dogs at any given time, with many now at our Tai Po Homing Centre who came to us as puppies and who are still waiting for their forever family to notice them.  Some were adopted as baby pups and later returned, and all of these cases really break my heart.  All they need is a chance to prove how loving and loyal they are, and to know that the pet shops and breeders are selling puppies at ridiculous prices while so many truly wonderful dogs are without homes makes no sense in any way.  Please don't pass a dog by because it wasn't born with a specific breed name, as these mean nothing when it comes to character and faithfulness.
