Although on the surface there seems to be little happening, it actually feels like living in a whirlwind behind the scenes with all sorts of things going on, one of which is the upcoming move from Ap Lei Chau to Kennedy Town. That obviously involves a lot of planning and thinking ahead, especially as we have to take the Lunar New Year holiday into account, and the ongoing challenges of getting building materials in from China.
Every day seems to bring potential opportunities, which might seem strange at this particular time but if you look around there's still a huge number of new buildings going up (which means the old Hong Kong fast disappearing). There are lots of important decisions to me made about what to do when these opportunities arise, and how we can realistically take advantage of them. You'll hear more about this over the coming weeks.
Jimmy's face says it all |
For today we said a happy goodbye to little Jimmy as he left the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre with his new family. I'm sure he's going to be very happy having his own home, even if he's enjoyed his playtimes with his friends.

Over at Tai Po there were yet two more arrivals, once again dogs displaced by New Territories development. There are two sides to every story of course, one being the need for more housing and business, and the other being the loss of the countryside and old villages. As always the animals are the losers, whether pets or wildlife, and all we can do is take care of these dogs as well as we can, and try our best to find them new homes.
