Sat 14th July: Best message ever!

Tinker at Whiskers N Paws
Ironically it was the worst day in terms of weather but the best for adoptions, as the morning started when I sent two shy Lamma pups over to meet their potential new family.  Tinker had started to come out of her shell (crate) last Sunday when she began playing with the other puppies at Whiskers N Paws, while Taylor achieved nothing more than sticking her head out to have a look.  I had already told the potential adopters not to expect either Tinker or Taylor to emerge from their crate at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and I was right, but it meant that both ended up going home on a foster-with-a-view-to-adopt basis.
Beautiful but shy Taylor

Show poodle Frostie was adopted
Following that happy event, and not in any particular order, poodle brothers Frostie and Icy were adopted (separately), newly-surrendered Japanese spitz Lego left too, as did Yorkie girl Minnie with the second Yorkie Muffin leaving on Sunday.
Bye Minnie, have a lovely life with no more breeding
Lego was only with us for a day
Icy went home too

We did take in one replacement, a large pom puppy who will need to go to AFCD on Monday for licensing before being adopted, possibly by the same family who took Icy.

I also had two nice surprises, one being about an adopted-and-returned puppy, now young adult, who will be leaving Tai Po on Sunday (no names until the deed is done), and the other about another dog who was also adopted from us as a puppy and then abandoned at a shelter.

I had heard about this case only when I got an email from a very kind person who sent me this message.  It seemed the adopter of baby Laura had claimed she was aggressive: "I wanted to see first hand her so called aggression, so for the past two years, my husband and I have been regularly visiting her at a dog shelter that her adopted family has abandoned her at, sometimes bringing friends that are strangers to Siu Hak. I’m very happy to find she is not aggressive - at all. Instead I find she is an affectionate girl who’s longing for love and cuddles. She does get very excited when she first sees us arrive and will jump quite high, but all she wants is to lick our faces - nothing proper training can’t correct. It is extremely sad and unfair to label her as aggressive and dangerous. I attached some videos and photos for your reference.

The shelter is now going to close down by end of April due the deteriorating health of the shelter’s owner. So I appeal for your help and hope you can give her a second chance as she deserves a much better and loving home than her previous one. If you would like to meet her in person, we can arrange for that"

Obviously I was shocked to hear about the puppy we had called Laura, but was asked not to contact the ex-adopter as her consent was needed to get the dog released.   The message I received today was from the adopters of Laura's sister, Bella, who are now living in Singapore and have taken in Laura, now Susie, as their own.  I was told Bella and Susie are very close and play, eat and sleep together, and I can't thank both the rescuer and Susie's now-family enough for what they did to save a dog's life.

Best message ever: Hi! Remember Bella? She is from one of the pups of the 4 sisters we adopt from u 2 years ago and now she has relocated to Singapore with us!
Recently she learnt that one of her sister, siu Hak, now Susie, has been abandon from her previous owner/ family... we decided to bring her to Singapore with us and have her reunited with her sister, Bella!
