5 pups saved and on their way to HKDR |
The puppy crisis is getting serious now, as some came back from their foster homes and five more were taken in today, not planned or anticipated. Someone found the babies swimming for their lives in the sea and clinging to the mangroves to stay afloat, so of course they needed help. We assume they were washed out by a heavy downpour as the mother is around and known, although too timid to be caught. As the site where the mother lives is close to our Tai Po Homing Centre we'll do what we can to get her trapped and desexed, and depending on her temperament we'll put her back or keep her. The dog family were living near a sports facility and we believe must have been fed by people, as the pups are very friendly - and cute. As happy as we are that the little ones were saved from drowning and won't have to face an uncertain future of starvation and sickness, not to mention producing further unwanted litters, another five puppies is the last thing we needed at this time when so many people are either already away or planning their summer holidays. If anyone can foster any of our puppies we would be very grateful, so please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com for information, thank you.

This lovely boy is just 1 year old |
After the busy weekend it was quite quiet today, and as Acorn were very busy I delayed taking any new dogs out until Tuesday. However I did take the newly surrendered schnauzer and pom to check their license status and found that neither dog had been registered, not even the ten year-old. So they had their rabies vaccinations and are now official. The pom is a year old, not a puppy exactly but still a young dog, and a very sweet one.
