Fri 11th Aug: Small dogs and Sharlene's surgery plans

Nicky has already been adopted

Thanks once again to Acorn Vet Hospital for coming to Kennedy Town to see so many of our dogs and puppies, saving us multiple trips back and forth to Sai Ying Pun.  There were almost thirty dogs that needed health checks, blood tests and vaccinations, but everything went smoothly and everyone is ready for adoption or scheduled for desexing and dental treatments.
Nina has already been adopted

Very sadly the senior dog Hershey that was recently surrendered to AFCD tested positive for heartworm, another black mark against the horrible ex-owner.  We will need a foster home for Hershey so she can have the treatment to kill off the worms inside her heart, and the six week recovery period. If you can help please complete the foster form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/.

Sweet old lady Hershey

We posted a call-out for donations for another special case, this being for sharpei Sharlene who needs specialist surgery on her locked jaw to allow her to be able to eat again.  Currently she's being fed mushy food or the little tubes of paste that seem to be for very small dogs.  If we're lucky enough to raise in excess of the $100,000 needed for Sharlene's surgery, the remaining funds will go towards Hershey's heartworm treatment or the many other high-cost surgeries that we have to cover.  Thank you for the kindness already shown, and in advance for others who donate towards making Sharlene's life whole again.  (If you don't have Alipay, please check our website for alternative ways to donate: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/donate/).

Urgent Appeal: Help Sharlene Get Life-Changing Surgery via the Alipay Fundraising Scheme!
Meet Sharlene, a lovable Sharpei girl who desperately needs your help. Despite her severe jaw displacement, she remains incredibly sweet and friendly, spreading love to everyone she meets.
It's heartbreaking to see Sharlene’s condition deteriorate as she struggles to eat properly with her jaw unable to open. She is growing skinnier day by day.
We have a specialist maxillo-facial surgeon, Professor Steenkamp, flying in from South Africa to perform a complex surgery later in August, but we need your support to make it happen. We must raise $100,000 to cover the surgery, post-operative care, and additional medical expenses.
By donating and sharing her story, you can play a vital role in giving Sharlene the chance to lead a healthier and happier life.

Please also spread the word by sharing this post with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, let's give Sharlene the chance she urgently needs. Can we count on your support?
