Thurs 11th Oct: Last minute preparations

Express your inner Beatle on Saturday!
There's an air of general panic in the office as Gala Day is almost here, and not only am I on a kind of part-time holiday but our long-standing admin staff member, Kathy is off this month.  On top of that Peak to Fong is coming up next month and that's another huge event with a ridiculous amount of organising to do, and of course the dogs still take priority and need to be looked after.

The new intake from AFCD Sheung Shui arrived today and unsurprisingly one of the poodles has heartworm.  After all these years and so much information and education, you'd think most dog owners would have got the message but it seems not.  If you live in the New Territories then your dog has a very high chance of being infected by this mosquito-borne disease, and even in the more built-up city areas you still can't escape the insects entirely.   Prevention is so easy so just do it, please.

While out and about today and occasioally stopping to check the (many) emails coming in, there was another from AFCD Shatin about a pom and a schnauzer that were ready to be taken, so we'll try to get them on Friday if possible (now confirmed).

I'm going to be on my part-time break until next Monday, but of course I'll be at the Sarge'n'Pepper Gala on Saturday, and at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday.   Our Gala Event volunteer organiser is having to fly pretty much solo for the last minute run-up, albeit with a little help from another volunteer/adopter Laura, but I do need to give a mention to one of our amazing supporters and donors who is responsible the incredible decor and much more, so huge thanks to Clive Miners of Rich Creation International, and you'll see what I mean when Saturday evening comes round.

All of our sponsors have been incredibly generous this year and nothing could be achieved without them.  I'll be giving them a mention tomorrow, so please join me in giving a huge thank you!
