It turned out that my cancellation of all plans for the day was premature after the heavy rain had stopped by the afternoon, but it was too late by then to reinstate arrangements. At least it gave all of us the opportunity to continue our updating of the website dog profiles, and hopefully everything should be corrected by the end of this week, if not sooner. You can now check all of the dogs available at www.hongkongdogrescue.com

April (with now-brother Roofie) had her adoption confirmed |
I don't think the adoption photos of April or Mango were posted at the time they left Tai Po as we needed to wait for confirmation that both were doing well in their respective homes, which they are. With an already-resident dog it's not only the humans that have to be in agreement about the new arrival, so we allow for a settling in trial period before confirmation of the permanency of the arrangement.

Mango settled very quickly in her new home |
Unfortunately not all adoptions work out and miniature pinscher (or German pinscher) Wellie came back as quickly as he had left, which was disappointing in one way but also a relief. If an adopter doesn't have the patience or understanding to give a dog at least more than a night to settle, then we don't want the dog to stay.

Wellie is a very sweet little guy |
It's like puppies being returned for not being fully trained or for play biting, something that is explained very clearly when they are taken home. All puppies use their (very sharp) teeth, and the best way to avoid being on the receiving end of their shark-like "attacks" is to adopt a pair so they can bite each other, or at least foster the second one until they have learned that human skin is off-limits. Or you can adopt a slightly older puppy whose adult teeth have replaced the baby ones and who has already passed the must-bite-everything stage.

Even pups as cute as Panda love to bite |
