Mon 9th May: Planning the events calendar

The pre-sale of the HKDR 2016 Flag Day has begun! Buy your flag sheet today (minimum donation: HK$300) at: http://hongkongdogrescue.com/event/flag-day-2016/buy-a-flag/. Every dollar will go towards HKDR's mission of saving, rehabilitating and re-homing abandoned dogs in Hong Kong.

We also need many volunteers to help us sell flags on July 27 (Wed) -- please register at http://hongkongdogrescue.com/event/flag-day-2016/volunteer-registration/ if you can help. Dog owners are welcome to volunteer with their dogs.
We've got quite a few fundraising events planned for the year, some old favourites and some new, and a few that we need your help with.  One of those is our first ever Flag Day which is taking place in July, and for this we need volunteers, lots of volunteers, and you don't need to be eighteen to sign up for this particular job.

The second event is admittedly a few months away, but we have already started working on this year's Gala which will take place on Saturday 1st October at the Aberdeen Marina Club (mark it in your calendars now).  For this special event we need auction prizes, which can be anything from services and holidays to items or adventures, something that guests will want to bid for. We're also looking for individual or corporate sponsors for the event costs, as unlike the bigger charities we don't spend our precious money on entertainment because we use it for the dogs and running of HKDR only.  That means that our advertising and events budget is as close to zero as we can make it, and every dollar raised is for the dogs and their rescue.  If you have something you can donate, or services you can offer or sponsorship in any way, please contact our volunteer organiser Jamie Nunn at jamie@hongkongdogrescue.com.

If you are just interested in attending as a guest, there are plenty of dressing-up options for this year's theme even if you're not a fan or follower of the cult television show, and it's going to be fun!

We have another new and special event planned for June, provisionally the 25th, and while I can't confirm the details yet this will take place in a dog-friendly venue so you can come along with your entire family.  Just make a note of the date so you won't miss out when it's time for us to announce everything formally.

"Mali" the 1-year old Malinois
There is at long last a "Dogs" page up on our new website, and while there may be a few errors still to correct and certainly new dogs to add (which we have all been busy working on), at least the bulk of the work is done and there is a way to show our lovely dogs-in-waiting.
Chewy is so sweet she is already a favourite with volunteers

Two of the newest additions that aren't shown yet are almost-German shepherd Chewy, already a favourite at Tai Po for her very sweet nature, and the young Malinois that I have nicknamed Mali, but who is waiting for his "real" name.  He too is a lovely dog, and both are ready to start their new lives.
