Thurs 6th Dec: Shibas and T-shirts

Bradley and Cooper (l) meet the welcoming committee at Tai Po
I knew there were two Stanley Barracks dogs coming out of AFCD in Pokfulam, and we'd even settled on the names they'd be given, but before driver Ming went to pick Bradley and Cooper up I got a message to let me know there were also six puppies waiting.  Of course I wouldn't say no to little lives in need, so now I have another naming session ahead and we have six more mouths to feed.
Six new lives need six new names

Unfortunately puppy Terra, who was taken for a trial on Monday, had to be returned sooner than expected due to the resident dog's unhappiness at having a young intruder in the home, so she'll be at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday along with all the other hopefuls.  Judging from the weather forecast it looks as though we'll need to be inside for the afternoon, but I'll see how that goes as I expect the store is going to be very full with the Christmas Party taking place at the same time.
Terra was rejected by the resident dog

Shiba inu Hiro was the lucky dog for today as he was adopted from the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, which leaves us with two young shibas, Monty and Damson.

Monty has been doing very well since coming to us as a puppy with apparent brain damage, and while I can't describe him as perfectly normal now he loves to play with the young pups and also with shoes and shoelaces if you stand still long enough.  He has a very funny way of hopping and dancing around the Homing Centre, and it's lovely to see him so happy.
Monty (r) was a baby when he came to us
Hiro was adopted today

Damson is an eleven month-old female shiba who was surrendered to us with warnings about her biting behaviour, but since the moment she arrived we haven't seen anything of this.  We already know from many years of experience that behaviour is very much determined by the treatment a dog receives in its home, and that biting is usually a form of self defence if a dog is scared or nervous.  We would still make sure that Damson didn't go to a home with children, but there's nothing that has indicated that she's anything but a perfectly normal dog in every way.

Good news for those of you who have been waiting for the Disney T-shirts to arrive, as they were delivered to us today and will be sent out to everyone who pre-bought at Peak to Fong before being made available to anyone else.  Whiskers N Paws will be selling the T-shirts if you want to grab these collector's designs which were designed and made by Disney exclusively for HKDR.

The 2018 Disney T-shirts have arrived!

Damson has been totally fine since she arrived
