Penny and Edith are staying together for ever |
I was so happy to get the news that mother-and-daughter poodles Penny and Edith had been adopted from our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, as they're very close and like peas in a pod. It gives me hope that another mother-and-daughter pair, Maltese Sybil and Maud, can also stay together as they too are closely bonded, especially given their sad background of having lived on a floating fish farm all their lives. In fact we wouldn't consider separating them at this point given that there are so many other small dogs waiting for homes individually.

Maud and Sybil are such sweet dogs, and very close |

Lucky Curly, lucky family |
One of those was youngster Curly, and I knew he would be an in-and-out case as he's so lovely and just a year old. He was found abandoned in a park and without any microchip, and although the finder waited for hours in case an owner turned up as well as trying to find someone who knew the dog, eventually he was brought to us.

Mork is not a healthy dog at all |
Doberman (I always want to write doberwoman) Mindy also left our Tai Po Homing Centre today, and while she came to us in a relatively good condition, her male companion wasn't so lucky. He had heartworm, and now it seems he may also have tick fever. I was told he was a prize-winning show dog, and it makes me so angry to know that even those people who breed and/or show their dogs can't be bothered to take proper care of them or have them microchipped and licensed. In fact I don't understand why it's not a legal requirement for all of these dogs to be properly licensed before they can be paraded for prizes. Mork's heartworm infection is a serious case and it's too risky to even give the standard heartworm treatment, so we'll opt for the slow and safer method.

We have two sets of puppy photos to show, one being from Saturday's Happy Valley afternoon at Concordia Pet Care
Puppy Adoption Day 1 December 2018. (All photos by Dani Bartlett
http://www.danibartlett.com/), and this will be a regular event from now on.
Eric Tang was our volunteer photographer for Sunday's Whiskers N Paws afternoons
Puppy Adoption Day 2 December 2018, and although there were no adoptions to record we were very lucky to have no less than three lovely TwoPresents donations during the afternoon, and thank you to the children and parents for choosing to share their birthdays with HKDR and the puppies.

Thank you Ava! |
It was also graduation day for the Positive Partners students, delayed for one week due to last Sunday's Peak to Fong event. Congratulations to all participants who now have all the tools for a happy lifelong partnership.
