There's a one year-old golden retriever at the Pokfulam AFCD kennels, one of those sad cases where due to complications in ownership and license the poor dog has been held for a long time pending release for re-homing. He's a very sweet boy, and I've been pestering the staff about him every time I visit, especially now that I've been told he should be able to leave this week. I would love him to be able to go straight into a new home, not only because of the heavy rain and the fact that even the big house at the Tai Po Homing Centre is flooding, but because he has already waited for far too long. I already have a possible home in mind but I want a "for sure" place for him to go to as soon as he has seen the vet and is ready to start a new life. Please complete the adoption questionnaire if you are interested, but I don't have any photos and can only say he looks like a golden retriever. Just in, the golden retriever is free to leave!

Buzzy is still a puppy at under a year old |
I'm not at all worried about this boy, as I know a golden retriever is going to have a lot of offers, especially as he's still young, and it's always the mixed breeds that break my heart. These beautiful, smart, loving and loyal dogs are left on the shelf time and again, often for many years and sometimes for their whole life, just because they don't have a designer label attached. If I had to compile a list of the super-sweet Tai Po dogs waiting for homes it would be very long, and new names are continuously being added. Buzzy, who came to Whiskers N Paws last Sunday, is a dream, just like the other young adult Feebee, also from AFCD Sheung Shui. It's clear these girls have been family pets and have somehow ended up being evicted, and they would be such easy dogs to settle in to any new home.

Sweet Feebee |
There's always a lot of small events and promotions happening, such as the Grooming Workshop this weekend (already full), and the memorial concert on Saturday featuring many well-known singers including our long-term supporter Jun Kung. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to HKDR, so there's a double reason for going:

Buzzy is super cute! The wire-haired dogs always look great. I'm surprised he hasn't found a home yet. And Feebee has a gorgeous face and smile too. XXX
