Fri 15th June: Long weekend ahead

Can you foster this puppy?
I hope we'll see some movement of small dogs leaving the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre this weekend, and even if you can't adopt long-term, then fostering will help a lot.  We also have puppies that need foster homes as we have quite a few youngsters at the moment.  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you are able to provide a temporary place for a small dog or puppy, and all food, bed and vet costs will be covered.
Winkle would like a foster home too

It was a big day for me today, probably not for any reason that most would understand, but I've been fighting to save a particular dog from AFCD for a while now and this was the day I got to take her out. It's probably not going to an easy journey ahead as I can see the dog has leg problems, but she'll have a full heath check including X-rays next week so I'll know what we're dealing with.  In the meantime she's with me on Lamma and safe.

Along with this particular dog, there are always going to be those who are unlikely to be adopted for age, health or temperament reasons, and that's where the Life Saver Club comes in.  We have taken quite a lot of dogs in groups recently, from the closed-down shelter to breeder dogs, and not all are realistically going to be lucky enough to be offered new homes.  They will all be given the same care and treatment as all of our HKDR dogs, and that doesn't come for free.

This is a unique opportunity to help our long-staying dogs by sponsoring them for a minimum commitment of one year. We have three levels of membership, $200 a month, $500 a month or $1000 a month. All levels will give you exclusive sponsorship of one dog and will include a Life Saver Club certificate with the dog's photograph and paw print. In addition you will get a yearly update at the $500 level and two updates a year at the $1000 level on how your own sponsored dog is doing. If your sponsored dog is adopted, we will happily assign you another dog. The $1000 membership also includes the additional benefit of 2 free tickets to our annual Peak to Fong walk.

Your contributions as a member of the Life Saver Club are very important in helping us provide a home for these long-term dogs. As a committed No-Kill organisation, as long as these dogs need a home, they will have one with HKDR.  We never give up on the hope that one day these wonderful dogs will find a forever home of their own.
