Sat 4th Feb: Meeting "Mr Pringle"

Chief Executive candidate John Tsang with Cookie at the Ap Lei Chau dog park
I couldn't make my morning walk with the dogs today because I had to be at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre to meet with Chief Executive candidate John Tsang.  All Hong Kong residents will know that there is no public voting for this post so any PR exercise might seem to be a wasted effort, but we can hope the opinions of the majority will count for something.  Of course the subject of pets and animals came up in our conversation, and "Mr Pringle" (his local nickname) told me that they would be included in his policies, though to what extent remains to be seen, assuming he is successful.  I don't know about the other candidates and their views on animal welfare and rights, except that Regina Ip is a fan of fur and sees no problem with the farming and slaughter of animals for this purpose.  She obviously doesn't have my support for what it's worth.

Sweet Paisley found a home
John Tsang was introduced to the dogs at the Homing Centre and walked puppy Cookie to the nearby dog park, and maybe a little bit of luck rubbed off on them as new girl Paisley was adopted, as well as poodle Scarlet.
Scarlet left the Homing Centre today too

Hopefully there will be similar good news after the Whiskers N Paws puppy afternoon on Sunday, especially after I received an email saying the two Little Blacks would be returning after their very short "adoption". Puppies aren't toys and not should they even be considered just because the child or children want one.   I receive so many enquiries for puppies that are "quiet" and/or "independent" when there is no such thing.  Puppies are babies that need companionship, play, cuddles and gentle training, and not to be left alone (in cages) all day. If you don't have the time to devote to a puppy (or even a dog) don't get one.
Now all three Baby Blacks will be at Whiskers N Paws
