Weds 12th July: Happy adoption day for Dolly and Sandy

Dolly's smile says it all
Adoption news is always the most welcome, and today there are two lucky dogs celebrating their forever homes. The first of these is Dolly, one of the three sisters who recently moved from Ap Lei Chau to Tai Po Homing Centre. Sadly at the same time sibling Ruth was returned from her trial home after apparently not fitting in, but all three of these girls are lovely, happy characters as you can see from Dolly's big "I'm going home" smile.

Ruth and sister Nova are waiting at the Tai Po Homing Centre for their forever homes, along with lots of other puppies and doglets.  You can meet them any day of the year, no exceptions, from 10am to 6pm, if you are looking for a new four-legged family member.
Sandy and big sister Lotte

The second lucky pup today was Sandy, a volunteer favourite who has been in a foster home for a couple of weeks and whose adoption was just confirmed.  She has a big sister, also ex-HKDR, to show her the ropes and that is always a great help in settling a new puppy in.
Edward

Sandy's brother Edward is the remaining puppy from this particular litter still waiting for a home, and at five months he is still quite a small size.  You can meet Edward at Whiskers N Paws any Sunday afternoon 2pm to 5pm, or any day by appointment.  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.come to arrange.
Cactus, Marvin and Deebee today at St Stephen's Girls' College

Deebee did so well today
Our Education & Training Manager, Cactus, was out early to join 900-plus students at St. Stephen's Girls' College along with adopter and Education Volunteer, Marvin, and his ex-HKDR dog Deebee.  They were the actual teachers today, with the help of volunteer Mandy. Other than talking about animal welfare and HKDR's Mission, Marvin also shared his first-hand experience of adopting a dog and how it changed his life.

(As a side note as to how Deebee got his unusual name, it was because he was found wandering in Discovery Bay, commonly called DB, before ending up at HKDR).

Aside from offering free training advice and support to all HKDR adopters and fosters, Cactus's job as Education Manager also involves arranging school talks, corporate visits and workshops of various kinds.  Often it will be Cactus herself who leads the classes, while at other times it will be those with particular experience in their given field.  This round of workshops are being presented in Cantonese only, but English language classes will be held at a later date.  If you would be interested in participating in any English classes in the future please let Cactus know.  If there is a lot of interest in any particular workshop I'm sure Cactus will be happy to arrange.  You can email her at education@hongkongdogrescue.com.

We are proud to launch our “Taking the Lead” Dog Parenting Workshops again this year! Each workshop is packed with practical information and hands-on skills that both new and experienced dog owners will find very useful. It’s time to take the lead to walk, to love and to learn more about our dogs!
