Fifi was today's most-picked-up puppy |
Today's puppy afternoon just reinforced the fact that you can really never predict anything. With the weather being surprisingly dry and warm (at least over in our neck of the woods), and based on last week's quick sell-out, I was expecting another busy few hours at Whiskers N Paws instead of which it was quite the opposite. I had five new baby pups to show off, and while they all got lots of attention and cuddles not one of them found a home, not even cat-like Fifi who has to be the most unusual and pretty puppy girl I've seen in a long time. She did get a foster home though, so I'm happy about that at least.

Another reason to be happy and grateful was that doglet Spritzer found a home after a very long wait, and not because nobody wanted him but because he came to us with tick fever so wasn't well enough to be at the Sunday puppy afternoons as a youngster. Now a young adult and fully recovered, he has grown into a lovely dog and a perfect medium-only size.

Spritzer's wait is finally over |
Yet more good news came from shy puppy Melody's foster home, as after quite a bit of discussion about how to bring a very timid dog out of its shell and whether it would happen at all, adoption was confirmed. The family have been incredibly patient and kind, giving Melody space when she needed it and time to adjust to her surroundings, and I was just told that they have finally been rewarded with a small tail wag. Taking one step at a time I think Melody will be fine.
Cressie was another foster puppy who had her adoption confirmed and came back for a play and to have her papers signed and the transfer made official, so maybe it wasn't such a bad result after all.

Today's new arrival at Tai Po |
As the latest surrender to Tai Po arrived, the golden retriever I mentioned yesterday, another dog was happily leaving for good. Apparently Kenya made a dash for the couple when they entered the enclosure to meet another dog, and her tactic worked. It was she who made the "Walk of Pride" out of the front gates rather than the original hopeful, and it was obviously meant to be.

Kenya made sure it would be her big day |
You must all remember Grumpy Tony, the funny pup who stole so many hearts? Well he's joined this month's Positive Partners training course and this is how he looks now:
