Sat 9th April: The Beans

Coincidentally today is about two Beans, Red Bean and Soybean, who came to us as a pair several months ago.  Both are very sweet-natured dogs, which is why we recommended Soybean for fostering when offered a temporary place in a home that only had experience with easygoing dogs (one adopted from HKDR).

The following recommendation could have ended up being a cautionary tale about not petting dogs you don't know, however in this case it's a happy story about a wonderful foster dog who's waiting to become a forever family member.

"I wanted to share a typical Soybean story for anyone out there who’s thinking about adopting.

I was on the Peak teaching Soya about being off leash where there were many families out with their children. Soya is a good looking smiley dog, so one by one the children would come over to pet him.

At some point, he was surrounded by 5-6 little kids who were patting him and hugging him. At no point did he ever show any sign of impatience. On the contrary, he could not get enough. He snuggled into them, purring almost like a cat whenever they scratched behind his ears, and just generally made everyone wish he were theirs. I finally had to leave after 40 minutes of this. Soybean trotted after me but went back for some last hugs. Won’t someone please give this very special dog a home?"  If you're interested in adopting this sweet boy, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

Red Bean was chosen by Dorothy

It was our Tai Po staff member Dorothy who chose Red Bean to go home with her,  an easy adoption for us as there's no need to explain anything about the dog's character or care.
Rocket has found his forever family

I had already mentioned that Rocket would be leaving Tai Po today, and here's his adoption photo taken as he left the Homing Centre to start a new life as a family member.
Kiera heading home

Shortly after her brother was adopted from their loving foster home, it was puppy Kiera's turn today.  You may have followed their story on Instagram @why_i_foster, and will know that they arrived as rescued newborns, three of many lucky pops who have passed through this wonderful foster home. From Sunday a whole new story starts as babies Dougie, Dulcie and Demi move in.  They don't know it yet but they're going to have the best time.

It wasn't all good news today unfortunately, as we received the news that ex-HKDR dog Hazel-now-Shabby had run away from the boarding kennel where she'd been staying.  I don't have the full story about how it happened, I only know that Shabby is a long way from where she lives and that she's a very timid but sweet girl.  I really hope this story has a happy ending and that it will come soon.
