I have to let you all into a kind of secret, meaning it's not something we've deliberately been hiding but I prefer to talk more about the dogs in my posts. I did previously write that the current Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre building had been sold for redevelopment, as have many other old buildings in and around Main Street, and that we would have to move. At that time we thought that we had somewhere lined up to turn into our new Homing Centre, however that fell through and since then we have been looking every day for an alternative. It's something that has been consuming my days (and nights) as every time it seemed that there was a good prospect it came to nothing, and now at this point we still have no place to move to.

It's highly likely that we will urgently be looking for foster homes, especially for the medium-sized upstairs "Shy Squad" (actually they're not all shy), especially if there's a chance that it could turn into an adoption if everything went well. These less confident dogs really need to have another dog friend in the home as they don't do well as singletons. They are Alex, Emma, Dobby, Carlo, Plum and Piggy, with cocker spaniel Phaedra, new girl Nola, and shiba inus Donny, Goji and Gumbo being fine to be the only dogs in the home, possibly even preferably. You can see their details on the website www.hongkongdogrescue.com/dogs/, or email foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can help. Please note these dogs are not suitable for inexperienced families, homes with young children or areas with heavy traffic.

Fun at the dog park |
We want the smaller and more homeable dogs to stay at the Homing Centre so they can be seen by potential adopters, and we expect that there will be more leaving over the weekend. One of the reasons we love being in Ap Lei Chau is because we have a dog park almost on the doorstep where not only can the dogs run and play freely, but because it's a great place for potential adopters to spend time with the dogs they're most interested in without interference from the others.
