Bossy and his new family |
There's more happy adoption news to share today, even if one of the adoptions was a dog that was returned on Thursday after a short stay in his new, now old, home. It's funny how sometimes the names that are allocated to dogs turn out to be so accurate, and in this case the dog's name is Bossy. When he arrived at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre along with a large group of other small dogs, he was the one who demanded to be picked up and cuddled and he didn't want any of the others muscling in on the human attention. Little dogs are more often like that than big ones, mainly because it's not easy to pick up and carry twenty-plus kilos. Anyway Bossy was quickly chosen again, and no doubt he has a new name to go with his new family.
Sweet Betsy was the first to break from her family |
Also leaving our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, and part of the group that came at the same time as Bossy, was one of what I called the Cricket Family, because they were so clearly the parents/aunts/uncles of recently-adopted puppy Cricket. They were also quite jumpy (with nerves) when new, and although Betsy quickly settled and became very friendly the rest of he family still prefer to huddle together on one bed and keep their distance.
Max's hips are fine! |
Max, the poodle-maybe-labradoodle was also adopted today. At first it was thought that he might have hip dysplasia, but an X-ray showed that his hips were fine. He came to us from the same home as Tai Po-residents Hansel and Gretel, both very lovely puppies and in need of a home too.
Tizzy has to wear the soft cone full time |
Also leaving for what will inevitably be her last home was French bulldog Tizzy. As I'd mentioned in a previous post we found out that Tizzy had an agressive mast cell tumour on her back leg, and we just wanted a special foster home where she could spend her remaining months, maybe even just weeks. Tizzy was offered such a home by one of our adopters, and I'm sure you can imagine how grateful we are to this couple for showing such kindness. Tizzy has settled in and has a snuggly bed of her own to sleep in, and I'm sure she's very happy.
Behind the scenes there was a double adoption of two lucky baby foundlings, and you can see the happy announcement for yourself on Instagram @why_i_foster. There's also amazing news of another adoption from the same foster home, that of older puppy Elf, who himself started out life as a rescued newborn and was taken back when he found himself in need once again.
It's a last-minute announcement but for those of you who love to go out with your dogs, here's something you can do on Sunday:
