Fri 3rd Nov: Ugly duckling to swan

Bina's easy to spot as she has a short tail
Two of the Lamma puppies went for vaccinations today, Harvey for his rabies shot and licensing at AFCD in Pokfulam and Bina for her second standard 5-in-1 against common infectious diseases.  There were more happy and friendly puppies at the government kennels but I said I would have to take them on Monday as I have no space for any extras at the moment.   As successful as October was for adoptions it wasn't the best month for puppies, so I have quite a lot that need homes before I can re-stock.
Harvey's a very easy and well behaved boy

Almost every Sunday I'm asked how many puppies are usually adopted during the Whiskers N Paws afternoons, and it's so random it's impossible to say.  The highest number ever was twenty one (in early January last year) and we have had too many zeros to count, but October is usually a good month all round so it was disappointing.   So who knows, we could have a sell-out this weekend or another quiet Sunday, and I'll settle for something in between.
Lots of lovely pups last Sunday

Of course there's one Sunday coming up very soon where I will be arriving late at the puppy event, as Peak to Fong is just two weeks away and that's one date I can't miss.  Please note however that the puppies will be at Whiskers N Paws as usual, and I will be heading straight to Horizon Plaza after finishing in Lan Kwai Fong to pack up, and hopefully take some empty crates back to Lamma.

Can this really be Trafford?

Our trainer Cactus went to visit an ex-HKDR dog in his home recently and took this photo of Trafford to show us how he had turned into the cutest boy imaginable.  It was hard to believe this was the same almost-hairless dog that had arrived at the Homing Centre some time ago, and had since undergone a complete ugly duckling-to-swan metamorphosis. It just goes to prove once again that you shouldn't judge a dog but its initial appearance, as underneath that bald coat and stinky skin there is a beautiful teddy bear waiting to emerge.

The old Trafford, when he first came to us
