The adoptions mentioned didn't take place today, Easter Sunday, but in the preceding days, so the headline is rather misleading. However we are hoping that there will be more names to add to the list after the holiday is over, especially as we have some meetings arranged. Adoptions are the reason we're here, and all of the dogs and puppies that are staying with us at Tai Po, Ap Lei Chau, or even on Lamma (six puppies) are eagerly waiting for that special day.
I have to admit that it's been a tough time for me recently, as the dogs that live with me are all old now and with that comes inevitable death. I lost four dogs in a row, being String, Flip, Crumble and Venus, and now Thomas is about to take that final step, with Olivia also on the way. Sometimes it happens suddenly, while with others it's a slow decline, but either way it's not easy. I listen to the current puppies playing, their happy shrieks and "laughter", and it reminds me of when my dogs were themselves young. The time passes so quickly, and it's a good reminder to enjoy everything while you can.
Other than the six puppies now with me (their skin isn't great so I'm waiting for that to be resolved), we have other lovely puppies at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, including a very young German shepherd girl called Violet. I did question whether she was actually a real GSD and was told she was rescued from a breeder, so let's see.
If you're interested in adopting any of our dogs or puppies, large or small, please start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/. We'll get back to you as soon as we can, usually on the same day.
