Weds 13th April: And Beano goes too!

Thanks to Whiskers N Paws for finding these two lovely dogs a home together forever
Following on with the story about Dandy and his Whiskers N Paws makeover which resulted in a potential home, I had to mention the fact that there was another little dog that came as a package deal. As much as we were all happy to know that Dandy would be spending the rest of his days  living as a much-loved family member we were also worried that Beano would pine for his bigger "brother", so the news that the dogs would be adopted together was just perfect.

If nobody turns up to claim this lovely little cocker spaniel he will be looking for a new home
Just as these two lovely seniors moved out of our small Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, it seems the space will be needed for another little dog that was found wandering in nearby Aberdeen, and in the terrible weather that we have been experiencing over the past few days.  The photo of this cocker spaniel has been doing the rounds on Facebook with appeals for an owner to claim his or her dog, but in these cases it's very rare that it happens.  We also took in a lovely dachshund recently who was found wandering in the streets, and despite reporting to AFCD that we were holding the dog and registering myself as the Temporary Keeper, nobody has turned up saying the dog is theirs.  It's hard to comprehend that people who no longer want their dogs just put them out on the street, but it happens all the time.

Our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre is open every single day of the year
Talking of time, it's scary how quickly it passes and how things have changed over the years.  Taking Ap Lei Chau as an example, what used to be a small fishing community is quickly becoming  another upmarket hotspot, with the MTR about to open and flashy new residential blocks appearing in the area.  I don't know how long we will be able to stay once the inevitable rent increases start to push out the traditional seafood restaurants that still attract diners to Main Street every evening, and Ap Lei Chau follows the nearby ex-industrial warehouse area of Wong Chuk Hang into becoming the latest trendy place to live and work.  For now at least you will find our Homing Centre at 21 Main Street, and across the road where our office and Education Centre are conveniently located.   We open every single day of the year from 10am to 6pm, and we have many small to medium sized dogs waiting for homes, as well as puppies of all ages.
